Superman: Red Son
"now I save the world" - supermans ideologies do generally align with the maximisation of personal freedoms although he believes that the government (a powerful entity such as himself) should do all as is possible to help as many of every type of person as possible. I believe that superman is opposed to greed as his arch nemesis is quite literally a billionaire. He believes that money should be distributed so that everyone has access to the means to survive.
If superman was born in USSR Russia is a very interesting hypothetical situation. I believe that his current beliefs mainly align with communism (definitely opposed to classes and unethical hoarding of wealth) so being born in the country could definitely mould his beliefs in Stallins favour.
He would obviously be opposed to the harsh living conditions and in terms of the real life food shortages he would do his very best to feed everyone.
I am unsure if superman would kill stallin even with their extreme difference in ethics but as this is an alternative superman I'll let it slide.
Lex Luther is already a capitalist, just not as extreme, I feel as if his motivations are even more reasonable in this rendition.
is supermans net good speech what he wants to believe instead of the truth (murder for convenience and power)
US superman using the catchphrase in the wrong way was so powerful and his blatant disregard of human life shows that he is no more than a tool for lex linking back to earlier when we see the humanity of com superman when he gets manipulated into speaking with Luis lane.
-to a commy dictator was also a fantastic line
batman as a anarchist was also really well done, I like how everyone discusses some merit to their ways even though it's not as much as what id like to here (personal motivations?)
the gradual descent of superman was pretty good although again it could be fleshed out more
Kennedy as president was also cool and the real life stuff was crazy
Totalitarianism was really what ruined both parties in some ways
humans are more than just statistics, net good is not means of justification - Albert Camus and whatnot Diana has a good point
didn't appreciate how long his rein was
Batman - evading the entire government and superman, capturing Diana and the bomb in his heart for no reason?? while finding out their weakness and trapping them was impressive, was it even possible, like how on earth?
yeah, men suck
error of his ways almost realised
brain is frustrating, words are louder than actions a lot
change of morals, scared of brainwashing- he himself
good ending with morals of unity
lex pretty well written
not enough democracy/competence of participants
summary
Addresses key issues although not delved into deeply enough, interesting concept and pretty good execution.
