i thought i’d forgotten the specific feeling of dread from my childhood years. watching this, i wasn’t watching a movie—i was watching myself. that version of me who would yearn and yearn and yearn, then make a stupid mistake and make more stupid mistakes, all out of this naive sense of love that felt heightened the way everything in childhood is heightened. the colors more saturated. everything more than what it was.
