Femme
oh my god. i have not felt this much about a film in a long time.
every moment of this film, i was on edge. i had physical anxiety throughout every second. both fight scenes left me in tears and don’t even get me started on the parallels. i hate it (not really) when a movie makes you feel for people you would never want to root for. but in reality, that’s empathy. femme is an empath’s nightmare.
as a queer person, this of course hits deeper. from knowing people who have experienced the hate that jules has, to watching and feeling myself the (obviously not as extreme) struggle with internalised homophobia of preston. this film cuts deep; and i don’t think i’ll be forgetting about it anytime soon.
