Hamnet
This movie is just so beautiful, realized I did not know much about William Shakespeare.
The cinematography is gorgeous and earthy, making the transition from a lush, quiet romance into a heavy, suffocating tragedy. It’s emotionally agonizing, visually poetic, and the final act is an absolute punch to the gut. A masterful translation of pain into art. A devastating, grounded exploration of grief that completely breaks you.
*To be, or not to be, that is the question:
Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune,
Or to take arms against a sea of troubles
And by opposing end them. To die—to sleep,
No more; and by a sleep to say we end
The heart-ache and the thousand natural shocks.*
