The Young Pope
Damn.
Sigmund Freud would have a lot to say about that.
But on a more serious note, what a truly amazing show. I started it for funsies and found myself very touched by it in the end.
I wasn't ready for such a change in mood throughout the episodes and it has been a true emotional rollercoaster.
The episodes became less funny and more serious as Lenny grew up and I never thought I'd have an ounce of empathy for him, but here I am, I guess.
So much life lessons learned.
Every single character was so good, so well written, each one of them had an emotional depth that could touch anyone at one point.
But really I have to think about Andrew who's last days were the worst ever, I felt so so bad for him. I think I started to get how serious the show was during the Fifth Episode, when we got to learn more about him, and when the young boy killed himself. Perhaps I felt seen.
But then there was the Kurtwell case episodes and fuck, it was a hard watch. I didn't think I'd cry so hard when I started the series. But now I can't even begin to describe how sick I felt.
And I believe Guttierez is surely the best character, the most gut-wrenching - he's the one I've felt the most empathy for at least. Every interaction of his, every tiny bit of his character were so close to my heart.
I loved this show for so many reasons and maybe I'll add to that when I will have thought about it a bit more.

SO i had a good night of sleep and i decided, since my og review was really depressing, that i would add some moments that made me laugh
-when he made his first address to the cardinals and "i'm sexy and i know it" started blasting in my ears ?? PERFECTION, peak humour
-when he has to bless babies and says "he takes after you" to the mom of the adopted baby ??? hilarious
-when he DROPPED the fucking newborn baby ? SPECTACULAR give me 14 of em rn
-when he terrorizes the children at the museum as a joke ? pissed myself ty for this banger
