Barbie

Barbie is amazing. Gerwig's set pieces are meticulously crafted, despite the hilarity on screen. While Barbie dives into some darker themes, it remains light-hearted and doesn't often take itself too seriously. It's not subtle, but it doesn't have to be. The character of Barbie is often glamorous and flamboyant, so it would only make sense for its themes to be in your face. I adore what the film stands for and had fun watching. My only worry is that those who do not agree with its themes or are currently unconvinced won't take its themes seriously because of the movie's overall jauntiness and the Barbie doll's prevalence in popular culture.
