This is probably the first time I got chills from a musical performance in an anime. Episode 9 (easily my favorite chapter) is a well-deserved emotional climax in a tightly written and concise narrative. It was refreshing to see a show refrain from needlessly spinning its wheels throughout its runtime. The backstories were also cleverly placed in a way that didn’t disrupt the progression. The music was absolutely phenomenal and anyone that skips the intro deserves a life sentence. My only criticism would be the ending and the lackluster characterizations of a few secondary characters (e.g. Hiiragi and Ugetsu). I wish that the final episode focused more on solidifying Ritsuka and Mafuyu’s relationship, but other than that, it was a solid closing chapter.
Not the biggest fan of Ugetsu’s character but I'd lowkey love to have his hair.
