BND pregame finale: PURE FANSERVICE DONE SPECTACULARLY, AND I SAY THIS IN THE BEST WAY POSSIBLE! I actually don’t remember much from my first screening since my ex kept trying to distract me which is why she’s gone now lmao, but this is the first time I actually rewatch the movie since the 5 years it’s been out The third act is legitimately perfect 10/10 closer for this movie. You get the reintroduction of Andrew and Tobey peters, Tom’s Peter finally feels the brokenness that will push him to be greater, all the brotherly moments and great and satisfying characterization from everyone, not just the Peter’s. All the villains (aside from sandman) feel like I’m their element and for some even better. I like electro a lot more here than I do in TASM2. Same goes for Goblin, William just has a blast ever time he plays this character and it feels like he never even left and leaves such a striking performance behind with him, in context and literally. And MAN who knew that just a torn up hoodie could make a nearly perfect costume even better. I was left an emotional mess and able to take it all in a lot more than when I first watched this, even strange was sad to do the spell for Peter. And don’t get me started on Ned and MJ man, these 3 just have such amazing chemistry together and as an audience finally being able to see Peter and MJ kiss for the first time this way is just a punishment. The DeLasoul outro is my favorite from any movie I have ever seen, both visually, thematically, and musically. It is a shame to then see venom not be able to make it to the battle to complete the sinister six but I have high hopes that tom will get his own movie to face off against them. Lastly, it is so refreshing, heartbreaking, and heartwarming being able to see Peter not just back in red and blue, but to properly and finally embrace the role of Spider-Man like we have been waiting for him to do. Peter is on his own now as his own man, now knowing that with great power, there must also come great responsibility. And now, it’s the dawn of a Brand New Day 🕷️.

BND pregame pt 6: Mysterio is great I really like this version of him and Jake gives a fantastic performance. Every scene of him fighting against Spidey is super remarkable. CEO of sex. Forgot that this one is actually really funny. We seriously gotta keep Tom away from vehicles. My boy has been hit by buses, cars, trains, and most recently punishers van. Also forgot how Tony’s influence lingers over this movie. I do love the black and red suit and the little bit of character development Peter gets. Aside from that I honestly don’t have much else to say. I just didn't enjoy it as much as I had in the past and honestly I’m kinda sad about that. It’s got a cohesive story but just ends up being kinda weak for me regardless.

Bnd pregame pt6: Even though I came back with very little memory of most of the movie and low expectations, I still was able to enjoy it so so much. Now, to address the rhino in the room, it’s definitely the weakest of all its predecessors. No denying that. The first hour of the movie is almost perfect, and before we start rolling faster down. We learn the fate of Peter’s parents, which did overstay its welcome. We get the reveal of (a before BND and in my opinion) the best Spider-Man suit in live action with all its glory and also showing the symbolism of Peter deciding to stop his charade for revenge and be the genuine Hero uncle Ben wants him to be. Andrew is as quippy as ever and moves like never before in that costume. I can’t ever get enough of how good his webbing looks too. His relationship with Gwen is beautiful, yet Peter being himself pushes his loved one(s) away to be Spider-Man, this time also carried by the visions of captain Stacy. It hurts him but he can’t stay away and neither can Gwen, which then culminates in Peter’s I love you message to finally say what’s he’s been wanting to say for all this time, only to later be cut short. The emotional roller coaster that their relationship brings you along on as then we have the still ever shocking adaptation of the death of Gwen Stacy should make the entire movie worth it for any Spider-Man fan. Now for the blunders, in particular I wanna highlight the whole Harry needing Peter’s blood and his father’s work. Do I dislike it? The Harry stuff yes I do because I feel like they just needed a green goblin to enacted the death of Gwen (which hey the end result made me cry a little despite its bad buildup). The stuff with Peter’s dad? Could’ve been a lot better, more so because it’s makes it too big of a part of his character when usually it’s small and ambiguous because the main focus should always be how Ben and May became his new parents. Even in the ultimate comic (which I haven’t finished), Peter gets his web shooters because he figured out something that his father was trying to develop. It’s small and it adds to the lore but it’s not the focus. Could’ve maybe forgiven this a bit if they decided to keep that deleted scene where he is the one that says the great power line to Peter. Electro was also pretty meh all around and that’s all that needs to be said. Hans Zimmer saves him from being worse than fodder in writing. (my goat daredevil could’ve easily defeated him for sure just like in DD yellow). Felicia was here too I guess. Really wonder how they would’ve done the sinister six though. I have seen more clearly the inspirations that BND is taking from this movie, such as the cinematography, the way the Peter moves, and the look of the city as well. I’m sure it will be a delight to be able to see Tom soon take the best of both of the worlds of his two brothers in order to make the best of his world.

Minions vs. the human instrumentality project.
