Ray
Inspired by the short stories of Satyajit Ray backed by two of the three directors that I especially liked, I was excited for this, and I wasn't proven wrong
Ep 4 hangama kyun hai bharpa
The best episode amongst the lot. The episode was smart, sharp, witty dare I say suspenseful at some point. Of all the Satyajit Ray stories that I read this seemed the truest to his core style of whimsy and tragedy. Backed by beautiful performances by our leads this was a complete delight to watch
4/5
Ep 3 spotlight
Directed by vasan Bala who I've seen before in mard ko dard nahi hota in short prove that he isn't some half baked rip off of Wes Anderson in Indian cinema but instead a versatile director who isn't afraid of taking some unpredictable steps. Technically sound, narratively engaging this story is almost metaphorical in its literal sense. It's hilarious and thought provoking
I'm glad Indian cinema is moving towards something different and this plays a major role in it
3.5/5
Ep 1 forget me not
Bucket loads of exposition in last 20 mins is some of the things I hate in films, it ruins the film for me completely as it seems the makers had no idea how to conclude it. Now this film also suffers from that. The film was never unpredictable which I feel owing the subject matter it was supposed to be, many of the wow moments fall flat but it still has above average cinematography, great performances, an engaging overall story ruined by the end
2/5
Ep 2 bahupriya
This is a complete mess. Underexposed shots to almost no narrative sense. The film takes itself so seriously with an absurd plot that it makes everything laughable. The story lacks motivation characters do stuff without having enough to get behind. It's way too short for its harm as it seems rushed and incomplete by the end. Certain elements introduced towards the end are done with zero subtlety and shit ton of exposition, bad film with almost no redeemimg features
