Midnight Mass
Been watching over the last few days with my girlfriend since I’ve been home. What a remarkable show. It’s been on my list for a few years now and I just thought of it and stuck it on and I was hooked. Every time I wasn’t watching I was thinking of this show.
Bleak, thoughtful, and strangely beautiful.
It lingers long after watching.
It starts like a quiet, almost sleepy drama set in an isolated island community, but underneath that calm is something deeply unsettling.
What it becomes is a slow-burn horror that trades scares for soul. Haunting, thoughtful, and deeply human, it’s more about faith and guilt than monsters.
What makes it stand out is how seriously it treats belief. No one is a cartoon, even the most extreme characters feel grounded in something human. The long monologues are kind of its signature and sometimes they feel like sermons, but they also let you sit inside each character’s mind in a way most shows don’t risk.
Highly recommend it.
