Frida
such a beautiful film. having known frida’s story before watching, i knew what i was in for and was pleasantly surprised. the pacing was good, and in my opinion frida’s story was told fairly well. salma hayek’s performance was amazing. god almighty i could go on and on about the colours throughout the film. the cinematography was my favourite part of it all. the king kong/intro to new york scene?? so so cool, so fun to watch, so inspiring. i loved how her paintings were incorporated into the movie too. as someone who is in love with frida’s work, god fucking damnit i loved this so much.
i will say, it felt a bit too centred on diego at times. also why did doc ock, a white british man, play a hispanic mexican. but yeah that’s all i can complain about.
