Punch-Drunk Love

while I wasn’t sure how I’d feel about this film going into it, I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised. I specifically enjoyed the anamorphic lense used to shoot the film. I think it provided an overall impressionistic element to the story and really allowed us as an audience to understand Barry and where some of his anxieties lie. It was refreshing to see Sandler in a role (while comedic at times) that wasn’t entirely based on that style of film. was it the best movie I’ve ever seen? no. but I think it has a lot of unique qualities about it (from the way it’s shot to the conveyance of certain themes and emotions).
