Before Sunset
Its funny because this time when I watched this movie my mum was sitting next to me for bits of it. I had made her watch it on a plane about a year ago and she said this again already! But its interesting to think about how each of us reacted to watching it. I'm sitting there mesmerised, I had just rewatched before sunrise and I'm thinking nothing is more romantic than these movies. Like imagine having that sort of a connection with somewhere where you can wander the streets of beautiful cities and just talk about the things you usually don't tell anyone.
While im under Linklater's spell, my mum just goes "god you wouldn't get off a train with him, i couldn't stand him." And its funny because i think if you met either of them in life you'd probably scoff at them because its true, they both do really believe between each other they hold the secrets of the world. But I guess thats why it works because they are both so perfect for each other. Only Celine would get off the train for Jesse, for the most part Jesse would be a story we told friends over the phone or something we imagined happening in a daydream.
That's what I love so much about this trilogy, its all about the what ifs. What if Celine didn't get of the train in Vienna? What if they reunited 6 months later? What if Jesse never wrote his book? Where would Celine and Jesse be now?
I know myself and I know I would not get off that train, but I so wish I could be a Celine and follow him into Vienna. But I guess we are all different people, and this is just a movie. Anyway I will alway love this trilogy and no matter what will always think they are beautiful films.
