Fanny and Alexander
Leave it to Bergaman to create one of the greatest directed epics of television and film, to humanize the upper class oftentimes comes off tacky or out of place and Bergaman is successful in the first episode tackling many efforts of the Ekhdal family, but his true masterfullness comes in the slow evolutions of both the plot and the characters as we see death and life progress. We see everyday activities and life events blend into the normality as we see the normality blend with the abnormality. At it's core Fanny And Alexander is a story about family but also feels quite anti faith seeing it as slapping from the youth in a traditional sense.
I do want to see the theatrical version which I will just mark as watched for the moment
