The quality slop magnum opus from the quality slop king of directors is quality slop.
What does it mean to be the best ever?
The best for albums and films isn't my favourite it's just what excells at being that mediam, film can be broken down into 5 segments and this film does them all so well I consider it the greatest:
1. Mise En Scene - Translating to within the scene it is say what you see and wether it's a castle on fire, a shot in the back or an army on a hillside this does a ten on ten performance.
2. Cinematography - Similar to MES cinematography is how the position of the camera makes the shot and the movie, think wide pans or close ups or the use of mirrors in YiYi, Kurosawa is very good at this and considering that a lot of his works were from the 60s it's amazing, he's the master of framing as we see in High And Low but this is where it excells the most now he has 80s equipment and colour. This makes a cinematography experience similar to Barry Lyndon
3. Screenwriting - Yet again amazing, the script is very easy to follow, thanks Shakespeare, and Kurosawa's pacing is at the best level I've seen.
4. Editing - Editing is difficult to talk on but it's very good
5. Performance - The actors do an amazing job Nakadai is as always one of the best ever but the supporting cast is also amazing
