The Drama
Such a weirdly beautiful movie, coming into this I was a little skeptical on how zendaya + pattinson could work considering the age gap but wow did they encapsulate the core of what a romcom is in that first act. They're awkward, slightly corny, dialogue overlaps, jokes don’t always land and silences linger just a bit too long but that’s exactly what makes it work. The movie gradually reveals itself as something far more layered, using those awkward interactions as a disguise.
The final scene bumps the rating from a 8 to 9 from me, its just so uniquely beautiful and has you in mixed feelings you want to hate the protagonists but at the same time you dont. Kind of reminds me of Reynolds and Almas relationship in Phantom Thread.
