i was really hoping tuco killed everyone and blondie wrote “idiot” on the rock but thats just me

definitely not a movie for me and not a movie that the DCU needs for their second inning i wish they released that batgirl movie before it got canned

after playing super mario odyssey, reading the book 8 years ago, watching the spongebob square pants movie, and once taking a wrong turn on my way home and taking an extra 10 minutes to get back on path, i'd say im the best candidate to watch this movie in IMAX 70MM. the 5 people around me inside of this sold out IMAX 70MM screening didn't really enjoy the movie from what i could tell. the two guys to my right were stretching and were trying to move their body a little to stay awake, one of which groaned at any mention of a woman or person of color. the girl to my left was on her phone for around 3/4s of the movie. i had to ask her to get off of it because it was so distracting maybe like 2-3 times. a couple in front of me decided to walk in an hour late (this is the first showing that our theater is having and you had to buy the tickets a year ago) and left 30 minutes later. overall, i would say my viewing experience was fine, it was just the small things that i noticed about how audiences now engage with movies and what they expect. people were getting mad online for the inclusion of POC and women in their masculine stories, while others were getting mad at how there wasn't any Greek representation. others were getting mad at how the characters spoke, which confused me because it's a Nolan movie. sometimes it feels like he makes sure you can't hear what the characters are saying, i think i understood maybe around 40% of all dialouge spoken. sadly, this is the one thing that will be lost once this movie goes onto home digital, subtitles change how a movie is experienced. some people might complain about the formatting, which has already been beaten to death, but i have some other problems. i'm not saying that subtitles themselves are bad, but once the movie reaches home release, it'll inevitably mask one of Nolan's biggest flaws: his dialogue mixing. i've had my problems with how nolan edits his movies and how his dialogue is always clouded by a sea of music, but it's one complaint that becomes much less notible after using subtitles. this might be a niche complaint to have, but this something that always bothers me with Nolan movies and i was hoping he would change it sooner. a literary story being told like this breaks my heart, it broke my heart for Oppenheimer and it broke my heart while watching this. i don't understand why Nolan seems to lack care for audiomixing, it makes the theatrical experience unpleasant, but people who only watch this at home will experience a fundamentally different movie, because subtitles compensate for problems that theatrical audiences simply have to live with. people who only ever watch his films at home will never quite experience the same version of the movie that played in theaters. and don't say that people will still experience this movie in theaters decades later like the likes of Lawrence of Arabia and other epics, those only happen in certain states and cities. most people will watch this movie at home, either rewatching it or watching for the first time with subititles. if you already don't enjoy Nolan's style of directing, choices of editing, and the way he writes dialogue, you will be left bewildered as to how this movie will have any lasting legacy after this year. also the Dune Messiah teaser in the beginning made me more emotional than the entire movie.

this movie is so bad its actually fun to watch sometimes
