I prayed for times like this!! DC is back and I couldn’t be happier. Now I really enjoyed this film, David IS Superman, Nicholas Hoult was a D1 hater as Alex, and Racheal is up there with Margot Kidder as a great Lois Lane. The CGI overall was great, no surprise as it was James Gunn. The story was solid, but with a wonky start. There are two things that hold this back from being perfect tho. One of those things is a bit nit-picky on my part and that’s the cast of the Daily Planet. I wanted more! And that’s a good thing I suppose, but I feel the movie would have benefitted from more Daily Planet scenes. My main issue is a certain twist in the movie that I’m not completely on board with. If you’ve seen the film you know what I’m talking about. I feel like it just makes Clark’s choice of family easier, when it shouldn’t be one or the other, but both. Superman is child of two worlds and both of them combined is what makes him so unique and good. Overall great start to the DCU, feel like James Gunn was a lil tamed on this film, he definitely didn’t unload the whole clip, but he did a damn good job along with everyone else apart of this film.

I’m really conflicted on this movie and I think most of my gripes have to deal with the franchise as a whole and less just this one, but this entry is definitely not perfect. Like personally I think the whole Jurassic WORLD concept was wasted and never fully utilized, but again that’s a franchise thing. I do want to say that this movie is really gorgeous. I’d say it stems from a combination of being shot on film and Gareth Edwards’s eye for visuals, cuz the CGI is pretty great here as it is in most of his films (looking at you Creator). The dinos looked great, the river raft scene was finally nice to see, and the Mosasaurus was probably my favorite set piece. Now the bad… The Drex was horrible underutilized, barely even the film, at times the movies felt like two completely separate movies, there’s a sacrifice that is hilariously undercut, and the ending is so abrupt. Very safe movie that had potential to be great.

Great zombie movie with a surprising emotional core. Had to get used to some of the editing choices, but once I did I was a huge fan. Most of the kills felt straight out of a video game and I mean that in the best way possible. Wish we had more Aaron Taylor Johnson, not for plot reasons or anything, just needed to see him all bearded up for as long as I could.

Was not expecting this movie to hit me so hard. Maybe I was just in the right mood, but man, that ending really made me cry. This film really captures that feeling of isolation and fear of moving on so well, two things I’ve been dealing with a lot lately. Oh maybe that’s why it got me. Anyways, once Theodore moves on from his ex wife he’s then forced to move on from his current girlfriend (Scarlet Johansson) and the beauty of that is both times it was for Theodore to better himself, but the 2nd time hurts so much because he grew with Sam and in order for them to continue growing they must go their separate ways. That very specific kind of heart break is rare, but there’s also so much love. You love this person so much that of course you want them to be their best selves and don’t want to hold them back, but you also don’t want to leave them cuz you love them. Will be watching again soon💔
