this is a MASTERCLASS in how a 21st century period piece remake should be done… also period pieces period. those that stand out, such as emma (2020), balance wit, spectacle, acting, loyalty to the source material, and subtle contemporary appeal to humor. i don’t want iphone-faces and pop music instrumentals, i want josh o’connor giving us crazy eyes and anya taylor joy’s debilitating glares!!!! i don’t think we appreciate movies like this enough. ik everyone likes this version bc it’s pretty (which it IS my God) but it’s genuinely… so good. it does austen justice which is rare.  also what happened to mia goth’s eyebrows??? also shout out to my queens from sex education forgot y’all were here!!!! also… FUCK i need to yearn🧎‍♀️😮‍💨🚬 austen movies always get me in the mood to be dramatic and yearn and get involved in some good old fashioned unrequited love!!!!! damn!!!!!
