Alien

This is what they mean by “they just don’t make movies like this anymore”.  The tension, the horror, the blending of both in this space claustrophobic setting that absolutely makes you twitch out of fear in the most science fiction way possible.  Ridley Scott…nah Ridley Sauce had absolutely every reason to go as bonkers as he did in this. The way he takes his time to make us relate to these characters in a slow progression in the first act is amazing. We may not necessarily be emotionally attached to each individual character, but one thing is so evident and that’s that they are all literally like any of us and to me that’s enough to set the stakes up. What he does after in terms of creating an atmosphere so eerie, so claustrophobic, so science fiction horror is just amazing.  The production design was stunning!! Like the influence of Star Wars is so evident in terms of how big they wanted to go in terms of space but also showcasing how small we really are compared to the universe. It’s crazy how they were able to pull this off in 1979.  An absolute masterpiece. One of the greatest science fiction films of all time and definitely the greatest science fiction horror film of all time.
