Squid Game

Ignoring the infamously bad last few episodes, I’ve come to realize that I don’t like this show as much as I used to. It’s investing of course, and I think the pacing and characters are well done, but man, everything else is just really lame. The atmosphere this show is going for isn’t oppressive as (I think) it should be, everything feels like it’s for shock value, and there’s a dash of forgettable cinematography and editing. On top of all that, the message and critique of capitalism is just so ham-fisted. “Bro, it’s like a subtle critique of capitalism. It’s so deep.” Yeah, the show where people kill each other for money is a “subtle” critique of capitalism. What did I like about this show again?
