Boogie Nights

Boogie Nights displays the euphoric peak and rock bottom of stardom. The cinematography, dialogue, colours and everything in between is perfect. At the start of this film we are presented with a young man with ambition, who slowly rises to stardom in the pornography industry. At the “turning point” we reach one we enter the 1980s, everything goes downhill and our protagonist is tired out but still believes he’s a star. As we approach the ending of the film we see the ultimate degradation of our characters, especially Rollergirl, Dirk, and Buck, as they relive their lives and experiences from before/ the beginning of their career in the pornography industry. This was brilliant start to finish and PTA is truly one of the greatest directors of this century.
