Burning
Incredibly subtlety with a diverse and oblique plot.
It’s hard to understand how the events nearing the end unfolded considering how many possibilities and outcomes there are.
However, the most popular theory (I read this via Reddit from user u/SharkyLV) is that Ben is a grim reaper figure; grim reapers are sometimes depicted with black horses, this could tie back with Ben’s flashy black car which is a Porsche.
So my theory is that Ben takes advantage of Hae Min’s weakened emotional state thanks to Jong su, who calls her a whore; which ties back to when he used to bully Hae Min during middle school, calling her “ugly” which could’ve made the insult even more degrading.
So this subsequently results in Ben murdering Hae Min and this suspicion can be further hinted at when Jong Su meets up with Ben and Ben tells him that he burnt down a greenhouse which was close to him.
This could symbolize that he burnt down the closest thing to him which was “Hae Min”
Ben also used more imagery connected to greenhouses and fields whilst describing Hae Min which makes it even more plausible.
The final nail in the coffin was Ben stealing Hae Min’s cat.
Ben makes this seem even more suspicious by stating that he bought a stray cat and that he hasn’t named it yet (Hae Min’s cat was also a stray cat).
The evidence surrounding this is when Jong Su finds it, the cat only responds to the name “Boil” which was the name of Hae Min’s cat.
I highly recommend this movie and it’s a must watch imo.
