GoodFellas
100/100
This was the review that I was the most nervous to do. Not because I haven’t seen the movie before (this is probably my 40th time watching it), but because it’s hard for me to put down what exactly makes this movie so perfect. The first time I saw this movie I was 12 years old. I barely understood half the stuff going on but I fell in love right then. Every actor and actress in this movie plays their part perfectly. This is Scorcese’s magnum opus: pulling out every trick he has in the book from the music to freeze frames to different narrator switches to even the tiniest camera motions. The script is a constant stream of memorable quotes that I still use every day. Even through this viewing I am still amazed that this gift of a film even happened. In my opinion, this is the greatest movie of all time and a perfect encapsulation of what occurs when you have the perfect script, perfect casting, and perfect director combine to make a true piece of art.
