Rear Window
This is the movie that inspired me to start my journey again into movies.
It was sophomore year of college and I was taking an into to film class for an easy 3 credits. I saw a lot of good movies that semester but I was in awe of this movie from the first watch. This time around, I am still in that some wonder. I believe that this is Hitchock’s real masterpiece. By having such a limited viewpoint in only being in Jeffries’s apartment, you need to have a master level of creativity and control of the camera to keep an audience entertained. Hitchcock consistently was able to do this in this movie with using a variety of different lenses and color gradients to keep the plot going. That and the score has this movie hold up over time.
Of course Jimmy Stewart and Grace Kelly are fantastic. Their banter is a load of fun and has you rooting for these characters through the whole movie. Everyone needs to watch this movie at least once in their life.
