“It's always difficult to keep personal prejudice out of a thing like this. And wherever you run into it, prejudice always obscures the truth. I don't really know what the truth is. I don't suppose anybody will ever really know. Nine of us now seem to feel that the defendant is innocent, but we're just gambling on probabilities - we may be wrong. We may be trying to let a guilty man go free, I don't know. Nobody really can. But we have a reasonable doubt, and that's something that's very valuable in our system. No jury can declare a man guilty unless it's sure.“

***“I wish I knew how to quit you”*** Oh my goodness, first of all: this was absolutely gut wrenching. They loved each other for decades, and it wasn’t enough before it was so cruelly ripped from them. It really reminds you how horrible humankind is to those they deem “less than human” or “sinners”. No matter what you believe, nobody should have to hide their love or die for it. Second of all, Jake Gyllenhaal is so fine. 🤤 All in all, it was a solid (albit a bit slow) story with wonderful actors. The “Jack I swear” at the end really made me tear up. 🥹

**“‘IT’ is that quality possessed by some which draws all others in with its magnetic force. With ‘IT’ you win all the men if you are a woman — and all of the women if you are a man. ‘IT’ can be a quality of the mind as well as a physical attraction.”** My first silent film this is crazy 🥹. Clara Bow is absolute gorgeous and a complete stand out in this film, making it no wonder she exploded into stardom afterwards. And I don’t know the other competition, but she was no doubt the best person they could have casted. She has some of the ‘IT’ I’ve ever seen and she’s so magnetic. Monty (William Austin) was also STELLAR. It could be the makeup, but it’s like I could hear every word he said as he was so expressive. It was quite magnificent. “In a Shopgirl’s day, the first 1,000 customers are usually the crabbiest.” Glad to see that retail hasn’t changed at all in hundred years. I’d freaking love to go yachting. OG jealousy scene wow. A classic Romantic Comedy, this is one of my favor films that I’ve ever seen which is a huge compliment because I don’t typically go for Rom-Coms. It was funny, witty, and it didn’t waste one scene. I was never bored, which is crazy because I’m use to modern film. I would give this movie 6 stars if I could.

“No, Buzz… I AM YOUR FATHER” star wars reference holy cannoli.
