When They See Us

Context: Based on the assault case of five young boys who were arrested, convicted, and sentenced on the conviction of assaulting Trisha Melli. Director, Ava DuVernay retells the story of strings of nightmarish events that open an unsparing window to the injustice in America. The performances, either from the young or veterans, speak for themselves - the actors portraying the central five should be held in high regard for capturing the emotional depth, especially the remarks of their innocence lost from trauma.
