***“I cry at the start of every movie I guess 'cause I wish I was making things too*** ***But I'm working for the knife“***

This movie landed too flatly for me. Starting with visuals and sound, absolutely nothing interesting going on there, it’s like going with the first idea that comes to mind for every possible scenario with zero intentions. It’s all feels like “how humans would react to extraterrestrial life for dummies” the first two acts make a fine popcorn movie but the third just pissed me off. You know the feeling of trying to start a meaningful conversation with a person who has zero depth, that bitter taste in your mouth afterwards, this is how the movie feels to me, I’m trying to get something meaningful and interesting out of it but I am completely unable, I think this why I’m being too harsh on it.

One word kept coming to my mind watching this film; Smooth, everything in it from start to finish is fully and strangely harmonized, just like Jazz. Rich with mood, style and incredibly thrilling at the same time. Hiroyuki Sanada delivered such charismatic performance. **“When I see a beautiful picture or breathtaking sunset, I hear jazz”** *And when I hear jazz I can only think of you.*

Horror movies by new directors in the past two years became unmissable theater experience for me, I’m not a fan of this genre but I ‘m a fan of the new direction it’s taking. The psychological phenomenon of “obsessive love “ taking its extreme form till the point of being a genuine horror, is an incredible idea to start with, but how can you take it to this extreme without adding a fictional match to light the whole thing up, and that’s where the wishing willow comes and strangely makes sense. He wished for her to love him more than anyone else not thinking what this selfishly means, and how horrible it would be. What I find interesting is given the fact that he is a male, even when it was extremely creepy he still thought “ what so terrible about loving me this way ?”, like bro she’s no longer herself what do you mean…. , he only started to see how horrible it was when shit gone completely south. The two leads were both phenomenal, he was able to act horrified, hopeful and absolutely pathetic in a very balanced way, but she was the real star, she changed from one emotion to another so seemingly, she didn’t simply act possessed but also completely powerless and creepy at the same time, that is a real acting challenge. Simple shots, setups and camera movements made the actors abilities more essential to deliver all the emotions, and they did. Walking out of the theater i was thinking of a line from a poem**”**** Some persons are captive to love, others would make the beloved a captive. Which one are you?” **but extra creepy given the film context .
