Sinners
Finally Watched Sinners and I’m amazed.
I really wished I watched this in the theatres. I would have watched it multiple times and I still want to.
Such an amazing movie, so unexpected, so nerving, so shocking and it has so much depth.
From the Racism to the supernatural parts and to the spiritual aspect, everything was done perfect.
Ryan Coogler is so great, he’s one of the best directors of our generation and the amount of detail in this movie and preparation really speaks for itself. The camera work is genius, the colour grading is phenomenal. I’m so happy this movie got so many awards, including Michael B Jordan, because he was so good as well.
There are a few things which took away a few points for me. First I didn’t get to experience this in the theatres, if I did, I know I would’ve enjoyed it even more. Second, when Grace calls in the vampires cuz she loses it really pissed me off. Her actions kicked off the climax, which I understand but what an annoying character moment. I wish it was more clever on the vampires side. Also how such good characters were ended off, especially when the attachment to them grew.
The movie really is thought provoking. the fact that Sammy made a deal with the devil to keep making secular blues music in return for his success, and the fact that the devil wants to promote that secularism because it steers people away from god is such an amazing premise and vision.
Also, how despite the close encounter Sammy had, and all the sacrifices that happened on the night, he still chose his personal desires and confounded to the material world, just shows how complex humans are and how wrong we can become.
Such an amazing movie.
