A spectacular dissection of faith with what I suspect are Rian’s two inner voices: Father Jud and Detective Blanc. The most interesting in terms of exploring its themes of the three (hopefully soon one hundred) Benoit Blanc mysteries. I think it under delivers the build up of the suspects and is less of a whodunnit that the other two (though all are rather unconventional), but that leaves time for the fantastic chemistry between the ever so funny Benoit Blanc and the incredibly well acted Father Jud. I’m having a hard time deciding which of Knives Out and Wake Up Dead Man is my favorite. But I’m fairly sure the cinematography stepped up a notch this film. Divine.
