Art is an attempt to create our idealistic notions into reality. Frenhofer's painting was exactly what he wanted yet seems so detached to reality but the toll ever remains devastating, the emotional and psychological factors affect both the muse and Frenhofer entirely. The film is an excellent portrayal of the nature of language, the painter, Frenhofer attempts to use his tools in painting as a form of language, just as words to entirely describe and reflect his muse as a "picture of reality" yet it seems it doesn't reflect his muse too well.

An important and core part of cinema lies here.
