The Shining
G-Block, all we know is Redrum…
A horror masterpiece it truly is. Now, the first hour did not have me thinking this way. Nothing really happened and it was really carried by the beautiful cinematography and the scores. They truly do not make horror movie scores like they used to. However, after the first hour goes by oh my does the masterpiece title kick in. The tense moments, the shots, Jack Nicholson and Shelley Duvall. And of course any time they play that Gold Room score, it just hits so different.
Speaking of Mr. Nicholson, again this film had me at the beginning. Of course I knew what was coming, but he wasn’t really doing much. But holy he changes it up. His performance is one of the best I’ve ever seen. And Shelley Duvall really deserves every bit of respect for this role.
Like I said the cinematography carries the first hour of the film and it elevates the 2nd hour. Every shot has depth and beauty.
Overall, of course this film is incredible. It is everything its hyped up to be and most certainly more…
