Poor Things
Edit: The longer it’s been since I’ve seen the movie, the more I think about it and the more I love it.

A big gripe I have with this movie is the sex scenes. It seemed like every frame was perfectly orchestrated to get the clearest shot of Emma’s tits. I’d like to believe that the nudity is shameless in the way Bella is, but I just can’t shake the fact that everything about this story, this script, and this movie was done by men. I sense them leering at Bella, just like all the other men in her life. I don’t want to see her like that!
At least it was a lot of fun watching how those same men get their lives destroyed by her. They see a blank slate of a woman and have that classic male urge: “I will take it upon myself to teach this woman about things and it doesn’t matter if she cares to learn about it because she’s too polite not to play along.” And Bella goes along with it when it suits her, but she never ever lets the men get in the way of her desires and adventures. She is a victim, a poor thing, who just keeps climbing back on top. I’m glad the amount of “poor Bella” moments had an equal amount of “good for her” moments to balance them out.
Hated the fantastical sets (we get it, it’s a fairytale), loved the cinematography, and loved the costumes most of all. Great representation for girls who love poofy sleeves!
