I watched this movie a while ago and I only just realised that I haven't logged it 😅 This film carried an ominous feel from start to finish which I admire as most horror films find it difficult to maintain a steady pace. Alot of the shots were distorted or messed with showing the psychological effects that the characters faced. Yes there were some points where I sat back and thought deeply about what the hell I was watching but overall I think that the film beautifully demonstrated the decay of the human mind after being slowly drawn away from reality and given extreme amounts of power like the main character dani got given at the end of the film. I think alot of people misinterpret the last scene. Many people think its some feminist arc and its her way of cutting off a horrible boyfriend, but if you look a bit deeper it clearly isn't. Dani by this point has completely lost all mental stability as a result of being trapped in a cult and loosing all her family and friends, because of the tragic incident that happened before she came she was left extremely vulnerable meaning that she was a perfect pick for the cults 'may queen'. Her smiling at the end is not from a feeling of freedom and relief that her cheating boyfriend will die, it's clarification that she has become completely absorbed in the cults Web.
