Thanks to Nieves Conde it is demonstrated once again how great the cinema of this country is, and that perhaps the Italians made very good neorealist cinema, but the Spanish had nothing to envy them. This work should have gone down in history along with Bicycle thiefs or Rome, open city, but we will always have to put up with the fact that Surcos (the perfect prototype of a classic) go down throughout history as a cult jewel known only to the fortunate one who be lucky to see it.
