the thing abt death note is like. is it extremely and obviously flawed? yes. is it also an absolutely ridiculous stone cold masterpiece? also yes . the audacity is almost unbelievable . never has a show been so simultaneously tense and the highest of camps; the transcendence of cringe cannot be recreated ; so many have tried and just as many have failed . the lows are so low and the highs are so high. the twists are so nonsensical they become sensical again . no i cant laugh yet ive gotta hold it in; why is it even on letterboxd? this is an Anime with a capital A , not a movie , death note never forgets that and neither should you. perchance. i cannot explain why or how this means so much to me let alone why and how i am so serious about it. that opening somg is straight up crack too no wonder the musicals a fucking banger as well yeah thats right theres a three hour musical and it fucks idgaf if it has a million replays theyre all me . every once ina while when in Dire Need (DN) ofa factory reset, i’ll youtube i’ll take a potato chip and eat it, and then and only then am i reminded what true cinema is. fav of all time . netflix i’ll never forgive u , challengers i KNOW what tennis scene “inspired” u .
