Mulholland Drive

I spent two and a half hours trying to figure out what I was watching, then another 22 minutes watching a YouTube breakdown, and now I’m convinced this is a masterpiece. This is the kind of movie that burrows into your brain and refuses to leave. The more I thought about it, the more obsessed I became with trying to piece everything together. I love movies that don’t hand you the answers and instead force you to meet them halfway. I’m still not sure I fully understand Mulholland Drive, and I don’t think that’s a bad thing. It feels like a movie that’s meant to be revisited, reinterpreted, and argued about. Every explanation opens the door to another question. I don’t think this will end up being my favorite David Lynch film, but it definitely made me excited to dive deeper into his work. All I know is that by the end of that analysis video I went from “What am I watching?” to “David Lynch is a fucking genius.” What a film.
