The Elephant Man

"No! I am not an elephant! I am not an animal! I am a human being! I am a man!" My first David Lynch movie, and what a way to start. The Elephant Man is truly a masterpiece. It’s heartbreaking, beautiful, and incredibly difficult to watch at times, but that’s what makes it so powerful. John Merrick’s story is devastating, yet the film never loses sight of his humanity. Beneath all the cruelty he faces is a deeply moving story about kindness, dignity, and compassion. By the end, I was completely emotionally drained. A heartbreaking but beautiful film that will stay with me for a long time.
