Silence
Scorcese comes to terms with his faith. I had heard overwhelmingly positive praise for this somewhat under watched late Scorcese, and needless to say it lives up to the hype. I absolutely love how much this film makes me think. It makes me think about faith in any higher being. It makes me think about exclusive faith. And it makes me think about missionaries and their ethos, as well as perspectives from each side presented within the film. Minor spoilers follow in this review. I love a lot of the imagery conveyed here, especially Rodrigues seeing himself in the image of Christ, and finally stepping on the stone, as he had seen countless others do (or not). The silence followed by the voice of Christ were likewise very impactful moments, as well as the constant buzz of wildlife present in the background. What a film this is to experience.
