Hamnet
Paul Mescal you’ve made me cry too many times over the years..
I loved that they concealed his identity as Shakespeare until towards the very end to showcase that is Hamnet, not the story of how Hamlet came to be. I was so moved by how Agnes and William are so bound to each other regardless of their misunderstandings and the heavy grief of absence, and while time stops for her, the only way he can process it is to keep moving. This film is one of the more emotional performances released in 2025 and truly deserves its flowers. Rooted in family and tragedy, Hamnet still doesn't fail to show us the power of how art transforms some things we cannot hold.
Jessie Buckley being a front-runner for Best Actress is totally deserved, I have never been more floored by an actress in a piece like this other than her. I hope Jacobi Jupe grows to be a star akin to Owen Cooper, it's hard to feel an affinity with a lot of child actors but the ones who do are the type you'll remember, and he's definitely going in my books.
