Atonement
I will never get over this movie.
Honestly, I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a stunningly whimsical and deeply profound film in my life
The film is impossible to look away from, and I seriously think the ending scene is engraved in my brain.
The whole time, I kept thinking about how this movie is movieing right and how incredibly gut-wrenching the story is, the touching subjects explored throughout the film linger long after it ends
The brilliant aspects of filmmaking, including the camera work, the colour palette, the visuals, and everything else, combined with the heart-touching love story of Cecilia and Robbie, couldn’t have been done better. In my eyes, it was utterly flawless in its execution, with every aspect of this incredible masterpiece perfectly balanced and remarkable. But gosh, did I hope and wish they would have gotten the ending they truly deserved, which is the only thing that could have possibly made the film even more incredible
And if I’m being completely honest, I will always hold a huge grudge against Briony. The performances were brilliant, James McAvoy gave Robbie a quiet devestating depth that stayed long after the film ended. Beyond him, Keira Knightley brought a quiet restraint to Cecilia, while Saorise Ronan’s brilliant portrait of Briony made the tragedy feel inescapable
