Shutter Island
I wanted to watch this movie for suchhhh a long time, and I’m so glad I finally did, since it exceeded all my expectations and had me incredibly engaged in everything that was going on the whole time. And I honestly loved this movie so much
Scorsese’s use of visual language is incredible; the camerawork throughout the film truly brings out its essence.
The revelations of the twists, along with the incredible plot twist, and hidden clues/details (especially the opening scene and the strange behaviour at the beginning) couldn’t have been executed better, and the sound design perfectly amplified the atmosphere and kept you on edge
The scene that referenced the famous painting “The Kiss” was unforgettable and an incredible homage. The pacing was perfect, and the symbolism throughout the movie was so intentionally crafted.
Leo DiCaprio’s performance as Teddy Daniels is brilliant and captures all the profound layers of the character, allowing us to connect with Teddy
I see people interpreting his last sentence as the fact that he’s deep in cover (tried to word that as best as I could to avoid spoilers), but it works so much better with the fact that he figured out that he can’t live with the actual truth, preferring the other option. Besides, there are too many hidden details that confirm the theory isn’t correct
