The Holiday
The Holiday has always been my favourite Christmas film. There’s a certain warmth in it that I think comes from the way this movie has perfected the “ amazing heartfelt Christmas film” formula. I rewatch it every time the season comes around
The storylines are amazing and not overdone like Christmas films nowadays. No character is underdeveloped, and everyone is so relatable (with emphasis on Amanda and Iris—after so many rewatches, I still can’t decide which one I relate to more). Arthur’s storyline adds such a heartfelt touch to the film, and I always shed a few tears when he finally goes to that gala in his honour
The score and soundtrack are incredible. Hans Zimmer and Imogen Heap are the duo I never knew I needed
Also, Jude Law’s character is definitely in the top 10 best fictional male movie characters from the 2000s, and a big personal favourite of mine. He’s so wonderfully written, a gentleman, a yearner, and that British accent that can never not be charming. And, well… it’s Jude Law
