The Master
This really is just a perfect movie about two men falling in love.
It’s also worth noting that this film seems to reflect Freddie’s time in the Navy to his time with the Cause. War is often prescribed as being “worth fighting for,” but all we see of actual war is a bunch of men messing around. Freddie seems to find the Cause much more “worth fighting for.”
I’m not even sure what I’m trying to say about that. Just the fact that Freddie was much more devastated and affected by the loss of Dodd than he was by anything he witnessed in the war make me feel a certain way.
Watching this made me sad that Hoffman isn’t still around to make amazing movies like this anymore.
