Poor Things
What Barbie wished it was. Yorgos Lanthimos manages to make something so bold and original. Poor Things constantly balances on a tightrope between madness/genius and does so with such a strong core story and list of characters that becomes more fascinating with each introduction. Minor criticism is that between all three Lisbon/Ship/Paris sequences each one could shave a minute or couple off but when a film is so ambitious, well executed and puts me on such a roller-coaster of emotions throughout, it's hard to give it anything other than 5 stars. With this, Lanthimos is officially part of the off the cuff answer you give when someone asks, who are some of the greatest filmmakers of all time?
