ballet might be the only sport/art form where all its great stories are terrifying.

i think it loses some of the looming horror of the stage show by focusing on the rise of the nazi party rather than the spiral into facism and changing the music to be entirely diegetic has its positives and negatives. the biggest disservice to the film was replacing the fraulein schneider and herr schultz storyline with fritz and natalia (i’m also bitter that they made fraulein schneider a nazi).
