Grogu is just such a heckin cute smol boi :3 i h8 wen dey shoot @ him w lazorz :c

I still don't understand how they keep fucking up Mortal Kombat movies. People always brush it off with "it's based on a fighting game, of course it's stupid," but that ignores how good some of these game stories actually are. The newer entries especially are more cinematic than either of the last two movies. The worst part is that at some point we just started accepting that video game movies are allowed to suck. I'm still holding out hope for a real video game movie renaissance someday (a good movie-game comeback would be nice too). But after this, I'm honestly scared for a Metal Gear Solid movie. That's one of the greatest video game stories ever told, and we already know they'll probably butcher it the same way. Smaller gripe: Karl Urban's American accent might be one of the worst I've heard in a movie. 1 star for Shao Kahn's fatality on Cole Young, and Bi-Han showing up was kind of cool.

Artificially assembled, and obviously so. The opening scene, the Jackson family home in Gary, Indiana, supposed to be poor, looks like a cookie cutter movie set with some 50s/60s flare slapped on. Like a sitcom home. That’s the uncanny valley of the whole thing and it never really leaves, every space just feels off in that same way. Jaafar isn’t the problem honestly, he holds his own and looks the part at times, and idk who else you’d even cast. But they did him dirty with everything surrounding him. Hard to even focus on what he’s doing when it all feels that fake

Actually worse than I remember. I think being in theaters gave it whatever little extra credit I gave it last review. At home the flaws are just amplified.
