Forrest Gump
I could say something cliché about how Jenny is a terrible person, but I think what’s more fitting is that, despite that fact, we’re still forced to care about her passing because of the way it affects Forrest.
The scene that really gets me, though, is when Forrest finds out about his son. His reaction, and the fact that his first thought is whether his son is like him, really got to me. Because even though Forrest isn’t the smartest, he is the brightest.
There’s a purity in Forrest that a lot of people find comfort in, because I think we all wish we could be a little more like him. That’s why it hurt so much that this was what Forrest was worried about. But I understand it, he didn’t want his son to go through that same judgment. He wanted his son to be treated fairly.
Forrest is a good man, and you don’t need to be the smartest person in the room to be one. He’s also a hell of a father.
“Stupid is as stupid does.”
