Star Trek
This was my introduction to the franchise, and honestly, to most of the actors in it too. I think I was around eleven when I first saw it, and even though a lot has changed since then, my appreciation for this movie hasn’t.
You could say this film doesn’t fully capture the deeper, philosophical spirit that made the original show so special, and normally that would turn me off. I love stories with meaning and depth. But there’s something about this movie that still hits for me. Even now, coming back to it, I find myself loving it all over again. The cast has a chemistry you don’t see often, and it makes the whole thing so easy to get lost in.
It’s such a fun movie, and I love how it manages to stay true to what came before without overcomplicating things for newcomers. It respects the legacy but still feels fresh and accessible. I love Kirk, I love Spock, and I love their whole friends-to-enemies dynamic. And Kirk’s journey from an arrogant troublemaker to a real hero and captain of the USS Enterprise still feels so satisfying to watch.
There’s just something about this world that keeps pulling me back. I’ll always find it fascinating, and I really hope one day we finally get that fourth movie.
