Nightcrawler
This started off as something you would see in real-life: bnbs, bloody murders, betrayal, gaslighting, gatekeeping, and then there's the media. The film perfectly captures the imperfect side of media and how some of it are molded from a desire for "entertainment" and "exclusivity".
Lou Bloom (played by Jake Gyllenhaal) emerges as the ultimate antagonist, blending fiction and reality, blurring the line between the two. The real world harbors hidden wolves disguised as innocent sheep. Then there's Rick, an unsuspecting and easily manipulated individual. When he musters the courage to assert himself, he is callously betrayed. In this animal kingdom, people hide behind different facades.
I must admit, Jake Gyllenhaal's performance in this film is outstanding. His intense demeanor and seriousness drew me deeper into the gripping moments. Ironically, it's my hatred for his character made made me appreciate the film even more. I absolutely loved it!
